Voice of the People Survey 2004 - a unique insight into global public opinion

As an expert in your field, you will appreciate the crucial need to understand public opinion on a variety of issues facing our world today. In the reality of today’s globalised world, public opinion can have a powerful influence on political, social and economic events - and not only in a single country, but across the globe.

Gallup International’s unique survey Voice of the People is dedicated to interviewing the general population in more than 55 countries around to world. In this way, the views and attitudes of more than 1.5 global citizens can be taken into account in important decision-making. Voice of the People is already regarded as a highly respected tool by many global institutions - also included in this folder for you are two examples of the findings from the last survey. Firstly, a presentation about the results on Security and Prosperity which formed the central theme of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2003. Secondly, there is a paper about the Voice of the People findings from Afghanistan - the first time that Afghanistan has ever been included in a survey of such scope so a chance to compare their results with those from other countries in the region and further afield.

Voice of the People 2004 is now in preparation. Interviewing in almost 60 countries will take place in June and July, with results available in late September/early October. The survey offers the unique opportunity for you to ask the world a question. Attached you will see the cost of questions. Gallup International is a non-profit making Swiss association. As such, we are determined to keep the costs affordable as part of our commitment to giving the world a voice. As you can see, large discounts are also available to NGOs, recognising they have a need for such vital research.
